Checkups and Tests You Shouldn’t Miss

Check-ups are important to make sure that you are in tiptop shape. Although there were the usual checkups that we do when we feel are not feeling well, there are a few checkups that you have to take to help maintain your health.

1. Blood pressure tests

Blood pressure tests are crucial to lowering your risk for life-threatening conditions like heart disease and stroke. Hypertension is the leading cause of death in the world. But how often should you get tested? If a diagnosis reveals that your blood pressure is higher than 130/80 mm Hg, it is advisable to have it checked frequently to prescribe the proper dosages of medication you’ll need for its maintenance.

2. Dental checkups

The rule of thumb is that you should take a trip to the dentist at least once or twice a year. Dental checkups like professional teeth cleanings and thorough dental exams to see if you have gum diseases, and other issues.

3. Gynecologist checkup

To all the ladies, it’s recommended to visit a gynecologist once a year. Even though you might not be having any problems, an appointment can make a difference. A regular gynecologist checkup involves the examination of the vaginal canal, the ovaries, and the uterus, and a colonoscopy. It also involves a laboratory exam of the secretory and pap test to detect if you have any sexually transmitted diseases and tumor markers.

4. Cancer screenings

Cancer detection is one of the most important checkups you need to do that can make a difference in your life. Routine cancer screenings for breast cancer, colon cancer, skin cancer, and other malignancies are crucial due to the increasing number of cancer cases over the years. For some people, such as those who have a personal or family history of cancer, the need to catch up is pressing.

5. Skin exams

If you are seeing unusual spots, moles, or other unusual things on your skin, a visit to the dermatologist is a must. A dermatologist can help you by providing a remedy or detecting a serious health problem that you have to address.

Hopefully, your attitude about preventive health care would encourage others to accept the same behavior and make it a habit.
